Introduction to the Radar and DMS Web Application

The following are the screens and functions for the Web Radar and DMS Application.


1. Login Screen

•   Type in the Username and Password.
•   Click "Login" to access the Radar Web Application.





2. Home Screen


Once you are logged in the following screen will appear.

The "Home" screen shows the location of the radars and DMS signs on a map. Hover on top of a radar to see the details.





3.1 Reports > Speed


On this page a report for the speed of vehicles is made based existing data. The report can show data from 1 to 24 hours, and in 1 hour increments.

• Adjust the start and end time, which radar, the direction of traffic and the class. After the setting are put in, click Submit to create the report.





3.2 Reports > Volume


On this page a report for the volume of vehicles is made based existing data. The report can show data from 1 to 24 hours, and in 1 hour increments.

3.3 Reports > Occupancy


On this page a report for the occupancy of vehicles is made based existing data. The report can show data from 1 to 24 hours, and in 1 hour increments.

3.4 Reports > Time

On this page a report in a spreadsheet format can be developed. The report can show data from 1 hour to 1 week.

• Adjust the start and end time, which radar, the direction of traffic and the class. After the setting are put in, click Submit to create the report.

• Click on the download file to see the report, as shown in red.

This report downloads the volume data by individual time periods in CSV format.





3.5 Reports > Connectivity


On this page a report for the connectivity of the radars is made based existing data. The report can show data from 1 to 24 hours, and in 1 hour increments.

• This report shows the uptime (the time the radar is connected) and the downtime (the time the radar is disconnected). Adjust the start and end time and the type of radar. After the setting are put in, click Submit to create the report.







3.6 Reports > Import


This page is used to Import data received from a radar.

• Select the radar name and choose the file from your local files. Click "Submit" to import the CSV file. This import was retrieved from type R-90 and R-180 radars that have data collector. This report is not available for the standard R-160 radar, as it does not have a data collector.





4. Messages


On this page you will be able to choose a message to display on a selected sign.

Select Model - Choose the type of model for the sign

Select Signs - Choose the sign to edit 

Select Image - Choose the .nmg file to display on the sign

Click "Send Message" to display the .nmg file on the selected sign.





5.1 Settings > General

On the Settings > General screen there are the following settings:

Statistics Pulling Interval - The time the application will pull statistics from the radar. Measured in seconds.

Web Refreshing Interval - The time the application will refresh the system. Measured in seconds.

Time Sync Interval - Interval that the radar is synced with the time of the server. This works like a NTP server.

Speed Unit - The unit of measurement for speed.

Threshold for low and medium speed - The speed to categorize the "medium" speed on the home page map.

Threshold for medium and high speed -  The speed to categorize the "high" speed on the home page map.

Service Status - Status of the statistics gathering service.






5.2 Settings > Radars

Here you will see the list of all the radars seen on the map. The following is a breakdown of the columns in the radar screen:

ID - Unique radar ID name.

Enabled - Statistics gathering is enabled.

Name - This is the friendly name for the radar.

Group - Group that the radar is assigned.

Model - Model of the radar.

Sensor ID - Frequency of the radar. The default is 0 for highway statistics.

Serial #-  Serial number of the radar.

FW -  Firmware number of the radar. This is auto-populated.

Coordinates - Coordinates of the radar.

IP Address - Radar IP Address

Port - The port at which the radar is listening.

Approaching Lanes - Number of approaching lanes.

Receding Lanes - Number of receding lanes.

Previous Radar ID - ID for the previous radar on the map.

Actions - Edit button to edit the radar's information. Seen below:

This screen is to edit all the previously mentioned settings. Edit any settings and click "Submit" to save.





5.3 Settings > Signs

The following is a breakdown of the columns in the Signs screen.


ID - Unique sign ID name.

Enabled - Statistics gathering is enabled.

Name - This is the friendly name for the sign.

Group - Group that the sign is assigned.

Model - Model of the sign.

IP Address - Sign IP Address

Coordinates - Coordinates of the sign.

Port - The port at which the sign is listening. For NTCIP signs, port should be 161. For non-NTCIP signs, default is 9520, but it might be different, so please check.

Actions - Edit button to edit the sign's information. Seen below:

This screen is to edit all the previously mentioned settings. Edit any settings and click "Submit" to save.





5.4 Settings > Users

The following is a breakdown of the columns in the users screen.

Name - The username for the user.

Type - There are two types of accounts, admin and viewer. Admin accounts can view and edit, and viewer accounts can just view information on the radar web application.

Display Name - Name that will be displayed on the web application.

Radar Groups - Assignment to a specific group of the radars.

Sign Groups - Assignment to a specific group of the signs.

Actions - Edit button to edit the user information. Seen below:

This screen is to edit all the previously mentioned settings.

Name - Set the username for the user.

Password - Password for the user.

Confirm Password - Confirm the password, if changed.

Type - There are two types of accounts, admin and viewer. Admin accounts can view and edit, and viewer accounts can just view information on the radar web application.

Display Name - Name that will be displayed on the web application.

Radar Group - Assignment to a specific group of the radars.

Sign Group - Assignment to a specific group of the signs.

Edit any necessary settings and click "Submit" to save.
