How to use the DMS Editor

GETTING STARTED
The steps to open the editor to create a .nmg file are: DMS Controller > Play list > Operation > New/Edit Message.
The editor will open, as follows:

The first thing that needs to be set is the sign size. Click on “File” then “System Set Up”, as pictured below:


Set the width and height and click “OK”, to save the size. Click “Get” to get the parameters directly from the connected sign.
The file tools in the editor are as follows:
: Open a new NMG file
: Open the NMG files
: Save the file
HOW TO ADD TEXT
Click on the editing area and type in the necessary text.
Aligning
Use the following buttons for the alignment.
: Horizontal left align

: Horizontal center align

: Horizontal right align

: Vertical center align
Note: the vertical center align may not be seen when editing. The "simulator" button may be clicked to see an example of how the sign will look, as shown below:

The text can also be aligned in the “edit” section, as follows:

Color
: Color settings for the text
Click on this button to set the color. If the color needed is not displayed on the pop-up window, click on “
” and then click on “Define custom colors” to open a second window to set a color with a RGB code or the eye-drop tool, as seen below:

: Color settings for the background of the file. The window opens up, as follows:

If another color is needed click on “Def…” to open up the color pop-up window.

:Shadow for the text which can be set with any color. Click on the button to open the following drop-down:

Choose the wanted pixel count and the color window will open for color selection for the shadow. If the shadow is not needed, click “Disable Shadow” to remove.
Below is an example of a shadow effect:

OTHER SETTINGS

MODE BAR
The mode bar takes is where the mode on the entering and exiting file is set, as well as speed, the pause between each screen change, the line spacing and display mode. Further explanation below:

Display speed of each time
Pause/hold time of each frame. The picture below shows the interface of Set Hold time. We can see that the pause time of the in-mode can also be included. That is the pause time = in mode time + out mode time.

If the sign is too large or too small on the editor, the user can zoom in or out on the editing area in order to make the program more convenient.
Users can set the space lines of text, with the Max value 9 and Min value 0. The unit of the line space is by pixel.
Only Auto and Marquee display mode is available.
DEFAULT SETTINGS
Set up the default settings for the text. These settings will be automatically set each time the editor is opened and used.
To open the default settings window go to Edit > Default Setting.


ADDING IMAGES
To add an image to the editor click on Insert > Insert Picture

The image loaded to the editor has to be .jpg or .bmp.

If the image is the exact pixel size of the sign or less the image will upload to the sign without a problem. If the image is larger, a message like the following will appear:

Click "Yes" if you want the image to fit the current sign or "No" to cancel.
Once the image wanted is on the editor then any other settings like alignment, background color, flashing, etc. can be applied.
