GovComm Rolls-Out Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Camera Line

GovComm ITS Cameras Are Tested To Be NEMA TS2 Compliant, “Speak” National Transportation Communications for Intelligent Transportation Systems (NTCIP) Protocol And Survive Category 5 Hurricane Force Winds.

MIAMI – Sept. 22, 2014 – PRLog — GovComm engineers once again lead the industry with the design and development of four NTCIP and NEMA TS2 compliant cameras specifically engineered and configured for the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) market.

Included in the roll-out are external positioner-type (GC-ICPO-FIZDE) and traditional (GC-IMPO-FIZDE) outdoor network speed dome (pan / tilt / zoom) cameras which are the most robust in GovComm’s arsenal achieving 99.999% high availability.  These 2 megapixel cameras feature 480 X zoom (30X optical & 16 X digital), smart infrared illumination up to 120 meters and PoE power injection.

Also included are 3 megapixel dome (GC-ICDOV-3DEHIZ) and bullet (GC-ICL4-3EIZ) cameras from GovComm’s smart series.  These cameras feature 2.8 – 12mm motorized varifocal lenses (28° – 130° viewing angle), electronic  pan / tilt / zoom (ePTZ) controls, auto focus, defogging technology, electronic image stabilization, high efficiency video coding, region of interest codec and wide dynamic range for low and varying light conditions.

State departments of transportation and local municipalities that follow their lead are particularly concerned about equipment surviving and operating through extreme temperatures, electrical transients, humidity, shock, vibration and high winds.  Traffic equipment from all manufactures also has to interoperate over a common platform.

GC-ICPO-FIZDE

The National Transportation Communications for ITS Protocol (NTCIP) is a family of standards that define the functional control and communications profiles for electronic traffic control equipment.  The NTCIP receives funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration, as part of the Intelligent Transportation Systems program, and is a joint project of NEMA, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE).  The Joint Committee has in turn formed 14 technical working groups to develop and maintain the standards, and has initiated or produced over joint 50 standards and information reports.  In essence, NTCIP allows devices from different manufacturers to talk with each other and operate as a system.

NEMA TS2 standards have been developed as a design guide for traffic equipment which can be safely installed and provide operational features.   These NEMA standards were established to reduce hazards to persons and property and expedite the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicular traffic when traffic equipment is properly selected and installed.
